NRF

The NRF (National Research Foundation) provides funding for postgraduate studies in natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. The support is in three forms:

  • Free-standing Scholarships and Fellowships: The student or fellow individually applies for support and is responsible for reporting on the utilisation of the funding.
  • Block Grants: The award is issued as a block grant to the institution, where the institution nominates the students or fellows for the grant based on a set of selection criteria provided by the NRF.
  • Grant holder linked Bursaries: The grant holder applies for NRF funding and nominates the student or fellow for support under his/her research project funding.
